Attendance Q&A
Q: Where do I report my child’s absence?
A: Always call the Attendance Line # 734-994-2080. You can email the teacher, but you must call the Attendance Line to have the absence excused.
Q: When is the best time to call the Attendance Line?
A: The Attendance Line is open 24 hours a day. However, we ask that you call in an absence by 10:00 a.m. the day of the absence.
Q: Do I need to call the Attendance Line if I plan to pick up my child early?
A: No, you do not need to call in advance. You will simply sign your child out when you arrive to pick them up. Please note: No early dismissals after 3:00 PM (the parking lots will be closed at 2:45 pm).
Q: Do I need to call the Attendance Line if my child will arrive late to school?
A: If your child will be arriving after 10:00 AM we ask that you call to avoid receiving the robocall. When you arrive with your student, be sure to sign them in at the front door. A parent/guardian signature will excuse the late arrival. Any students not called or signed in by a parent/guardian will be marked UNV.
Q: Can I call ahead to have my child waiting for an early pickup?
A: Students are not called to the office until a parent/guardian has arrived at school.
Middle School Only
Q: Is there a way for me to get real time updates on my child’s attendance?
A: Yes! In addition to grades, the PowerSchool App gives you attendance updates. If your child is marked absent or tardy for any reason you will be updated immediately.
Q: I received a robocall that my child was absent, but they arrived late. Why did I receive the call?
A: When a student misses half of a class or more they are marked absent. If your child arrives late to school and has not been called or signed in they will be marked UNV. Please note, Advisory is the first class of the day and lasts for 15 minutes. Students who arrive 8 mins late to class have missed half of advisory and will be marked UNV.
Q: I received a robocall stating my middle schooler was absent today, but my student was in school. Why did I receive a robocall stating they were absent when they were present at school?
A: Usually the UNV is a result of your student arriving late to class (after attendance was taken). If you receive a robocall for a UNV that occurred in the middle of the school day, please reach out to your student’s teacher. He/she will reach out to the office if the UNV needs to be changed.
