4th Grade

My name is Mrs. Bertelson and I welcome you to 4th grade at A2 STEAM at Northside! I am honored to be your teacher and look forward to an incredible year of learning and growing.

I am entering my 21st year of teaching and specifically, my eleventh year here at A2 STEAM. I’ve taught 4th grade for the majority of my career and it is absolutely my favorite! Prior to teaching in Ann Arbor, I taught at a STEM school in Battle Creek, Michigan for 10 years. I have two beautiful children and a fantastic husband. We live in the Northside neighborhood.

I am so looking forward to this new school year! We will work together to create a learning space that is fun, learning-focused, and engaging. 

My name is Emma Huntley and I look forward to working with your family this year in 4th grade. It will be a great year full of learning, and I am eager to get to know you! Here are some fun facts about me:

• I am from Ann Arbor.

• This is my tenth year teaching at A2 STEAM!

• I love solving Rubik's Cubes.

• I graduated from the University of Michigan.

• We have six kids in our house, all boys!

• My dogs are named Simon and Stache.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Kelly Newton and I would like to welcome you and your fourth grader to Ann Arbor STEAM at Northside. I am honored to be your child’s teacher for the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to an incredible year of learning and growing.

I am entering my 24th year of teaching and specifically, my fourth year here at A2 STEAM. I’ve taught 4th grade for several years and it is my favorite! I am an experienced teacher. I taught at Estabrook Elementary in Ypsilanti for 15 years and was a PLTW teacher in Ann Arbor for 6 years at Abbot and Eberwhite Elementary School. I have two beautiful children and a wonderful husband. My son, Alex, is eleven and entering 6th grade here at A2 STEAM, and my daughter, Nora, is eighteen and just graduated from Skyline High School.

This year we will work together to create a learning space that is fun, learning-focused, and engaging. We will work on PBL projects, embrace deep learning, and build upon our collaboration skills!
