Mr. Rittinger
I am excited to return this year for my third year as a teacher here at A2 STEAM. I grew up in Ann Arbor and even attended Northside Elementary School as a youngster. After graduating from AAPS I attended the University of Michigan for Elementary Education and interned as a student teacher here at A2 STEAM. I am excited this year to look again at the history of our nation and the mythology that is often put forth as mainstream history. I live in Ypsilanti with my wife our 3 dogs and currently, our 14-day-old foster child. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my dogs, playing music, and cheering on the Michigan State Spartans - GO GREEN!

Hello seventh-grade families, I am so excited to get to know you at A2 STEAM this year! I am an Ann Arbor native (graduated from Pioneer!) who headed off to East Lansing where I earned a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Teaching and Curriculum at Michigan State University. I have been teaching middle school for nine years and love working with students at this age because of the experience they bring to the classroom and their willingness to accept others' experiences as valid. I spend the summers in northern Michigan at U of M’s alumni family camp where my wife is the assistant director. I love to spend time with my wife and son on the water, go on hikes with my dogs, Lake and Lyla, and try new things in Ann Arbor and elsewhere. I can’t wait to get to know more about all of you, see you soon!

Hello families! I’m excited to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to all of the neat stuff we will learn together. This is my 12th year teaching middle school English language arts (ELA), and my third year at A2 STEAM. I love all things ELA, and how there is always something new to learn about ourselves and the world around us. I also enjoy reading/listening to audiobooks, Wordle, exploring West Ann Arbor with my partner and (almost) three year old, and spending time with family and friends. I can’t wait to meet you in a few short weeks, and hope to get lots of awesome new book recommendations then, too!

I am one of the seventh-grade science teachers here at A2 STEAM, and I love teaching science! A bit about me – I grew up in Ann Arbor (graduated from Huron), and obtained my master's degree in K-8 education from the University of Michigan. I got my start teaching algebra at the middle school level in Ann Arbor and then taught in Birmingham Public Schools at the middle school level for five years. This is my tenth year teaching science at STEAM. My husband and I enjoy traveling, hiking, and camping. We have two children at STEAM (ages 11 and 13) who love being outdoors just as much as we do. I also run the Dungeons and Dragons after-school club, which begins in October.

Hello! I am looking forward to teaching sixth-grade students in science class this year. This is my tenth year teaching at STEAM, and my 17th year teaching, with some time in Chicago, Dexter, the University of Michigan, and Scarlett Middle School before coming to A2 STEAM in 2014. When I am not teaching or planning, I love to spend time with my family, taking long runs, and spending time in nature. I am really excited to see all the ways we, as a sixth-grade community, will learn, design amazing projects, and support each other in extraordinary ways this year!
