Vocal Music
At A2 STEAM we learn music through problem solving experiences, singing, playing instruments, and composing. In vocal music class students will learn about beat, tempo, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, form, texture, meter, melody, genre, composing, timbre, and harmony. It is my personal belief that all children are musical, that there are many ways to music, and that all students can be successful in music class in some way.
Hello! I’m Mary Gass. I am the vocal music teacher for young 5’s through 5th grade at A2 STEAM. I have a degree in music education with a specialization in instrumental music from Oakland University. I love to read and go to music and theater performances. I am a horn player and in my free time I love to play with semi-professional orchestras such as the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, the Livonia Symphony, and the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra. I love the humanities, they are what make us human.
